On Friday 8 July just as the crowds were arriving in Southport for the Air Show over 40 young people from the Scout Group (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) boarded a Coach bound for Bowley Scout Activity Centre for our Group Camp.
Once on site and after pitching our tents we took a trip around the site looking at the various activities we would be taking part in over the next couple of days. Supper was ready on our return to our camp, hot dogs and hot chocolate.
Saturday dawned warm and sunny after Breakfast and flag break, we commenced our activities which included, archery, grass sledging, splatterpults, and for the Scouts a low ropes course. In the evening the Scouts went turf boarding while the rest of us had wide games on the field. We even had our own air show as the Red Arrows flew over us, it took them 7 minutes to travel to Southport a journey which had taken us 90 minutes. After tea we all got dressed up for the campfire on the theme of our camp of pirates. After the campfire we all toasted marshmallows and made smores to have with our hot chocolate.
Sunday was another lovely day after breakfast and a short Scouts own (quiet time of reflection) and flag break we commenced another set of activities including a blind trail and crate stacking for the Beavers, clay pigeon shooting for the Scouts, catapults and the leap of faith for the Cubs. After lunch we all started packing away our belongings then the tents ready for our departure on the coach. What a fun filled weekend it had been. Thanks must go to all the leaders and helpers who attended without them we would not have been able to go.
